I'm going to need a score card to keep track of who is dating whom.

Mike - Kim + Little Valerie = Unresolved Romantic Triangle

Debbie + Lisa = Secret Couple

Tuck + Travis + Jill = Romantic Triangle

PACK + Boyfriends = I don't know.

Ann Marie + Kelly = New Friends

Da Boyz + no girlfriends = Usual bunch of lonely geeks?
Have Dan or George ever had a date?
At least Book has a girl some of the time.

Who am I missing?

Oh yeah, What's happening with Brian and the cute little lemur?

Did Sussan ever wear the blue outfit for the College Boyfriend?

Erik

You left out Amy hanging out with college kids. <g>

I probably should wait for Doragoon to answer -- she keeps a list of this stuff, or used to. But anyway:

I wouldn't really call any of them triangles, or "unresolved". (Even the original Tuck/Debbie/Travis thing wasn't all that simultaneous; as I recall Val refused to acknowledge her feelings for Travis until after Debbie had broken it off.)

Mike may have picked up Valerie F. on the rebound, but I haven't seen any evidence that he's still carrying a torch for Kim. Sure, he's sorry that she broke it off. Out of sorts for a few days, probably, from what Tuck told us. But he's certainly not waiting for her to apologize and return.

While Travis was still on Tuck's mind enough to distract him briefly in bed tonight, Tuck doesn't want to know the details of their breakup. He clearly finds it easier to think of it as over than to find out whether it was all a misunderstanding. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it suggests that Tuck isn't pining for Travis's return. I don't think he'd have been willing to accommodate Jill if he were still going with Travis. Despite his "this isn't marriage" comment, it's clearly not casual to him.

Re Debbie and Lisa, we don't know if they're taking boys to the dance tomorrow night, though (as I commented somewhere else) inviting gay college kids certainly puts a curious spin on things. It made me wonder if Debbie and Lisa are going there as a couple and Debbie's trying to create a distraction. (If so, I can't imagine it working.) Or if she's decided somehow that there's no longer a need to keep their bond secret -- hard for me to believe.

Not counting Debbie with Lisa, it doesn't appear that any of the Pack are in serious relationships at present. (I don't count Julia as a Pack member, since her primary affiliation is with the drama group. Last we heard she was still with Dirk.) Kathy was trying to get the attention of a guy she met during the third-person section here, so she presumably wasn't involved seriously with anyone else. Pam was talking back at the end of August about a long-past relationship that had gone wrong; her comments strongly suggested to me that she wasn't seriously involved with anyone now. Nothing on Sabrina either way, but she's spending weekday evenings getting tutored at the Tucker house, and I can't help thinking that we'd have heard about it at a sleepover or party if she had someone serious. Amanda's gone through at least two male friends since the story started. Kim's seeking a female partner, but it's too soon for results. Jill's casual relationship from last spring is probably over, given recent developments.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong by later events, but I don't think either Kelly or Anne-Marie thinks of the other as more than a platonic friend at the present time. Anne-Marie admires Kelly's courage, but her instigation in gym class would be less funny if she really did have a crush on Kelly.

Not sure where you got the idea that Da Boyz never dated. We've seen George with Julia (their relationship, such as it was, lasted from mid-spring until George left town for the summer) and later with Ginger. Dan dated Ellen for a while after protecting her from Rob Walsh.

No data, of course, on Brian or Susan. Brian seems preoccupied with soccer right now and may not have time for other activities.

The Pack has boyfriends.

This was pretty clear at the sleepover when Kathy was quizing everybody about oral sex. Remember the show of hands when she asked how many had voluntarily given a BJ. They even discussed technique.

Another time the pack was talking about going out dancing "girls only". This is when they met Stepwise Pagoda. The conversation implied that the pack also went out dancing with boyfriends.

This is inductive logic. It's implied that the other characters are teenagers with normal to stressful homelives. Lots of the pack has jobs because they need money for their social lives? Kathy works at Wendys. Plus Debbie and Lisa seem to pay well. It's not clear how many people are working for D&E enterprises.

I didn't say otherwise.

My comment was that "it doesn't appear that any of the Pack are in serious relationships at present." That doesn't mean they don't date or attend dances with guys; obviously they do. Nor does it mean that they haven't been serious about guys in the past -- Pam even talked about having at one time used frequent sex to try to keep an unstable relationship going, back on 8/31 when she was concerned that Val might be doing the same thing with Travis. (Kim, as we've seen, is an exception.)

As you noted, they've had varying experiences with oral sex; what they didn't say in that discussion you mentioned was how serious a step they considered it. As you probably remember from the flak that surrounded Bill Clinton's impeachment, within a couple of years of this story, a survey found that a sizable percentage of high school-age teens didn't count oral copulation as sex.

Also, don't forget that the context of their going dancing with Val and Debbie was that they preferred that to taking their dates out dancing along with Debbie and Tuck.
