I like. Smile It has a Mike-like expression (Mike always seems vaguely amused by stuff, here's he's actively enjoying the thought of hitting someone with that practive sword Smile ) which is more important than getting my image right. He's obviously a bit bulkier and taller than boy Tuck without being mistaken for a real jock type.

Good job. Smile

I have to agree with Erin's evaluation. Also, despite the Japanese clothes and stylized drawing, Mike manages to somehow look more Chinese than Japanese -- which of course is the idea.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing him in more day-to-day clothes...

Don't call me Shirley. You will surely make me surly.

Same here. (With my circa-2000 computer loading the picture slowly top-to-bottom, I initially wondered whether/why Mike was wearing a dress.)

Also, between his shtick of constantly eating and the Big Kahuna concept at his birthday party, I thought he'd be a little heavier than you've drawn him -- not chubby or overweight by any means, but with less of a defined waist. I've never had a good picture of Mike in my mind, though.

He's in male puberty! Ask any mother of a teenaged male what they eat like, if you don't remember...

That was a social role, not a "Mike's fat" thing.

Wikipedia sayeth:

Kahuna is a Hawaiian word, defined in the Pukui & Elbert Dictionary as "Priest, sorcerer, magician, wizard, minister, expert in any profession."

Looks like Amy didn't check (via forward time travel) the definition before she came up with the word; she meant "chief, leader".

If you mean "defined waist" like Tuck is developing, no; Mike's the usual ectomorphic (look it up!) asian build, though fed nearly since birth on a typical American diet, and so he's quite large compared to his genetic ancestors.

Alas (Mike thinks) he's not very muscular, or muscular looking. But he's fairly fit, and trim. Otherwise, aerobics with Kathy would be severe torture, not merely "challenging".
(your author, for instance, would die of respiratory insufficiency before the class ended, if she didn't give herself heatstroke first)
