I am a new reader of the series, and admittedly haven't read through past around #60 yet, but I've been inspired by it (and by a comment someone made in the forums here earlier). I've got a SoT/EGS crossover story (yeah, I know, x-overs usually suck - feel free to groan in disgust) which I've started, set in the same alt future as my previous EGS fanfics Changes and Legacy, part 2, but a bit earlier, in Ellen and Nanase's freshman year in college. For Tuck fans, I've fudged the ages a bit and made her a senior at that same time (and through an amazing coincidence, at the same school). It's a bit forced, but then it's fanfic... anyway, if anyone wants to see the part I've finished and help me edit it, leave a reply here or in the thread on EGS Mayhem and I'll get it over to you.

Oh dear. I shudder to think what Tuck and crew could do with a TF gun...

And you may want to read farther as there are some fairly important things about Tuck that only come out later (though you can probably ignore them in your story if you wish).

The fanfics you linked to are nice, though they feel incomplete.

(Not that I should talk with several unfinished stories, including a Tuck fanfic sitting on my hard drive.)

i have been around for awhile but this is my first time posting.

I think it might be best if you did read up to chapter 115 first, since there are some developments that possibly play into your fanfic (hoping to avoid spoilers) but like Brooke said, i am sure you could write it from where you have read, this is just my opinion. This could create some interesting scenarios though *evil laugh*

I would offer to help proof read but English well, not very impressive.

Shit; I just wrote a long-ass explanation of various things only to have it disappear into the ether in a way that even the session-recovery won't retrieve it. Damn it!

Anyway, as I was saying: I've been busy catching up on SoT, and fortunately, none of the later parts to date have greatly affected the part I've written; it does, however, make me want to re-assess some of where I'm going with it.

Actually, the biggest issue I've got is one which was already a concern: for reasons relating to the timeline I've set out for the Dr Sarah stories (partly explained here) the story requires Tuck/Val to meet Ellen and Nanase in college, which is problematic since neither of them seem to be especially gifted students (though Nanase might be, given that she's apparently tri-lingual and good enough at math to plausibly claim to be tutoring Tedd). If it were Tedd and Grace, it would be plausible that they would have been at a school with a world-class engineering dept. such as MIT or CalTech or UC Berkeley (especially the latter, where a) the the school isn't primarily engineering, which would probably suit Grace better - I'm thinking EECS/Human Development/Sociology triple major, b) no one would give either Tedd, Grace or Tuck a second glance, especially if I fold Nukees and Narbonic into the mix for this particular variant of the series - I have an unpublished vignette where Tedd and Grace are being given a tour of the school by Danny Hua, who was the only one with the security clearance for it, when Grace recognizes Artie from his picture on a Transgenic Support board they both are on, and c) Tuck's politics would be completely at home, though the Political Correctness and hoplophobia of many other students - but not all, as there are significant Libertarian, Anarchist, and Constitutionalist factions around campus - would probably drive him nuts), but that wouldn't fit with the plot I have in mind.

This is part of why I've set this when I did (roughly 2004-05); it is more plausible that s/he would end up at a less prestigious school as a grad student, for some specific program or professor s/he wanted to study under. The other part is that it meshes with the time frame of both series, assuming they are set in the years they began (1996, and 2003, respectively) and that Tuck was a Sophomore at the time of the Halloween party, and Elliot and Tedd Juniors at the time the Goo first appeared.

As for my earlier fics, yeah, 'Changes' is definitely unfinished - my muse, fickle bitch that she is, never really got a grip on where to go next with it, and eventually I got lost in other things. However, both parts of 'Legacy' intentionally end on an ambiguous note.

In any case, I'll email or PM a copy of the current chapter to Someperson and anyone else who wants it.

Waaah! Not again!

I can feel the story in there somewhere. I know it's there. Why can't I pull it out? It started so easy... like so many others... but now six months have passed and nothing.

It seems the only stories I ever finish are the ones I don't know I'm writing until they are done. And even that doesn't always happen; I had just such a trance when "Highland Reels" landed on me (I doubt I could have written something like that if I were in full possessions of my faculties), but I woke up partway through.

And before anyone suggests it, I am not going to start shooting smack just for my writing. Visions of the future never turn out well, anyway.
