No, it's 1997. There are a number of known events to peg down the year. The most notorious I can remember: South Park premiere and the death of Princess Diana.

For that matter, all you need is a timestamp on a section containing a day of the week, and the unix 'cal' program.

When she started writing Tuck he *was* in the present.

It takes a lot longer than realtime to write it.
