Mike sighed as they made their way up the stairs to the three rooms they'd rented. Somehow. Mike had thought it was impossible to rent a room without a credit card. Maybe Tucker throwing cash at the clerk had had something to do with it.
"We get a room to ourselves," Kim was 'explaining' to the other
girls behind them, "because I PAID for one, just for us!"
"Jeez, Kim, chill out," Pam said.
"Yeah, go kiss Michelle or something," suggested Kathy, to the
accompaniment of laughter. "You're too stressed."
Mike sighed, then parked himself on the railing and waited for Kim,
who looked surprised when she rounded the corner and saw him. "Hi," he smiled at her.
"Hi?" she smiled back shyly as she stopped.
Kathy looped a finger around her ear, and all the rest of the girls
giggled. The two lunatics in question didn't notice, which surprised
Kathy not at all.
"Man, I hope I'm never like that," Amanda sighed.
"I hope I AM," Pam said back. "SOMEday."
"You'd have to kiss a girl to be like that," Valerie pointed out.
"Forget it, then," Pam said in a flat voice, which made Kathy
"Speaking of kissing girls," Valerie went on, "who's sleeping with
That stopped them all. "Ummmm," Kathy said, and then lost her
thoughts completely. "I really wish you hadn't put it quite like
The scene happens after Mike has been turned into "Michelle" until 2 AM by the magic of the entitled water theme park. The important factor is to note just how dead set Pam in deciding it isn't for her, Pam seems to be on the whole concept of lesbianism. The scene more or less has her declaring she would rather forgo love altogether than accept a girl as partner. Even having seen how happy Kim and Mike seem to be--maybe especially after having seen
how happy Kim and 'Michelle' seem to be.
What if anything does this mean for Tuck in the mainline universe? Is our Pam fooling herself into thinking since Tuck is legally a boy, it's okay to love him
? What kind of pressure could this bring to bear on the question of Tuck getting testosterone shots?
Normally I wouldn't even look twice at a fanfic for canonical questions, but this one is different because it was written by Ellen herself! There's also the foreshadowing some of us may recall from Tucky Seasons first draft, with regards to Tucks hormonal issues, which outpaced the mainline universe by quite a bit! So while I understand the danger in looking for clues in fanfics, I found this scene awfully curious and wondered what the rest of you thought of it...
