I mean I understand that this place isn't as lively as it used to be, but the spam in this place is piling up big time and no moderators in sight. Plus there's the fact her fiction site seems to have gone tits up and is only showing an xserve default macos page right now. That means everything is gone AFAIK and all her works that weren't backed up are gone.

So has anyone heard from her lately? Is she okay?

I aten't dead!

But I haven't been a place in my life where I can write very much for a while. Not given up, just kind of literarily constipated as it were. It's very frustrating, yes.

Yes, due to a day of carelessness on my part I managed to mislay my website during a server migration. No-one's fault but my own absent-mindedness. I still half-expect to find the backup files somewhere, but don't count on it. I'll make a new site if/when I have new content to put on it.

The story files themselves are safe; the sources backed up in my subversion server, and live in my DropBox account where any new scraps get added; and more usefully, every story published on my site was also published on Big Closet TopShelf. http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/ So you should find it in the archives there.

I feel bad about never having finished my last two; The Taken and Game Theory (the latter not Tuck-related at all); but I suspect that at some point I may have to admit my attempts to do so are the root cause of my literary constipation, and I really need to move on properly. Sad because they do both still hold onto my heart.

Well I'm glad to know at least that you're alright even if suffering from literary constipation. Please don't be a stranger okay? Come visit the forum more often and see what sparks from that. I think there are more visitors than you'd think it just gets lost underneath waiting for updates and people not wanting to break the silence unless they have something important to say.

Sorry to hear about the server, but I'm glad you have the stories at least backed up somewhere safe.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized you were talking about Rachel's site, not Ellen's.

What exactly do you take for literary constipation?
Do they make a literary metamucil? Very Happy
Does it come in flavors?
Maybe you need a long walk, they say walking clears and organizes the mind.

As for forgetting to backup your website and have it wiped out during a upgrade. Nope never had that happen to me once, twice or three times though I've been there.
I was looking for a chapter once because I didn't want to rewrite it, I finally did the rewrite and once I was finished, Murphy's law kicked in and I found the original chapter and after reading both I found the rewrite was actually better.
So it might be the same with your website, the recreation of the site might actually be better then the original.

In either case good luck finding the literary metamucil and with the website.
