Ok, Ellen says it's canon, so...

All sorts of "spoilers" that we are probably going to have to wait a long time for.

Jill's living situation.

Tuck being only somewhat uncomfortable with his appearing girly at school/in public.

And probably lots of others I haven't spotted yet.

I thought Tuck's ears were already pierced?

Guess he let them heal up.

I would have to check, but the only time I remember Tuck having his ears pierced was in the "Seasons" continuity -- possibly in the old draft, I'm not even sure if that happened in the new version.

Regarding the chapter itself... I thought two very interesting developments were:

1. Jill and Mike. I think there might be something more there than just "friends with benefits" for Valentine's Day. I mean, Jill went to a lot of effort (for her) to look good... and I think they might be a good fit.

2. The rapprochement between Tuck and Debbie. I know, the hurt and hostility had been dropping since the mall incident at least... but they seem positively friendly again here. Tuck noticing shoes for Debbie and putting the on lay-away for her? Both of them getting drunk together? That's "good friends" level at least.

It has been a while since I read the latest chapters of the main saga (140-142 or thereabouts), but I do seem to remember some talk of Jill moving to the Tuckers due to an intolerable home situation. Or it might have been forum speculation.

Don't call me Shirley. You will surely make me surly.

At least once Tuck mentions the possibility to Jill. She and Pam both seemed like possibles for occupying Susan's room if Bill, Sarah and Susan agree to the idea.

Tuck gets his ears pierced in the Seasons continuity while out shopping for girl clothes after Diana has the angina/heart attack. Since Ellen didn't say it was an infarction I don't know whether it was much more than a strong warning...

I don't think that you can count this as evidence, but I just read "Tuck squared" and there, Tuck/Val (and Mike!) both got their ears pierced for the first time.
So at least in the main saga Tucks ears weren't pierced at that point.

If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you'll never get it done.

Tuck was changing at Rachael's before going to Shelia's. Seems as if going as Valerie wasn't a one-time thing after all.

The reaction of the girls to Tuck in their bathroom is kinda interesting. They seem much more accepting of him than the guys do (giggles of amusement instead of screams of outrage), but that somehow doesn't seem very surprising at this point; it's almost as if the Pack's attitude of Tuck being an honorary girl is diffusing throughout the population. Of course, this was zero dark hundred, so the girls are all in Cosmetology and the guys are in prep classes for the Future Felons of America.

Of course, Tuck's Sunday evening is going to attract the Eye of Parental Inquiry when he finally shows up. I hope he can get a briefing from Debbie before that, maybe at the Parker's.

Tuck's parent's judgement may be that a thunderous hangover is enough punishment.

There's also the fact that Tucker looked hungover and wasn't doing anything really obnoxious in the women's room; whereas, Tucker was obviously in a panic (and looking girly as always) only a few seconds after a(nother) girl busted in and started barfing. Barfing does NOT actually make you popular, especially Monday mornings.

I thought that Debbie was barfing in the boy's room.

Poor Debbie; she does seem to have terrible luck with men, Tucker not the least of all. It's too bad she can't afford (in her mind) to simply date Lisa regularly, but she clearly has her own agenda in that regard. Also, she is attracted to men, and enjoys sex with at least some of them, and the same appears to hold (to a lesser extent) for Lisa, so things are just going to remain complicated for her, it seems...

I can hardly wait to hear just what happened Sunday night.

And one wonders about
Quote:

"C'MON, Deb, I gotta go!" I shouldn't have allowed myself to go horizontal; I'd blanked out.

"Oh shit fuck YOU," she raged impotently at me. "Here, put this on, and these..."

Whatever Tuck put on were probably his armor and shoes since there was no mention of him changing during the brief stop at home.

Understandable if that's the case, but if not what were he and Debbie doing that caused him to take his clothes off? The probable answer is going out as Valerie to wherever he got his ears pierced (where could they go an a Sunday night?)

I think we can discount the possibility of a drunken sexual episode but who knows what might happen with the combination of TuVal, Debbie and a couple of bottles of champagne? (TWO bottles? My head hurts just thinking about it.)

Except for our esteemed author, of course. I can hear the mysterious and foreboding organ music now. [cue evil laugh]
