I know that this is more than a bit premature,
(at least 12 episodes premature!) but it's
never too early to plan for something like this..
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how
or what we should do to celebrate the upcoming
100th episode of Tuck? I know that nothing major
was done for the 50th aniversery, but I'd like to
think that our motley band of fools can come up
with some nice ways to celebrate once that momentous
date finally arrives.

Any ideas?

To Ellen: LOL!

To Erin: Tuck Fest 100? Well why not??
(again I am well aware that this is a
long way off and that Ellen may make
good her previous threats to end Tuck
in a nihilistic fashion before we ever
come near Episode 100, but assuming that
Tuck continues on past its 100th episode
I think we should be prepared to do some
serious celebrating!)

Here are a few ideas that occurred to me:

1) Everyone should contribute to a fanfiction
thread of a Saga of Tuck bloopers reel
(which would hopefully reach 100 bloopers)

2) ....I'm still thinking Wink

Anyone else have any ideas?

I wonder how we're going to get Ellen in a hula skirt...

er. um. eh. *whistles innocently*

Some considerations to keep in mind when thinking of Tuck's 100th ideas.

- I personally, and to some extent know some other people who share my paranoia, keep my Tuck-a-holism secret. I'm not saying this is either good or bad. In Practice this means public get-togethers (other than a sabrina style sleepover held somewhere by a local coven... er... group of tuck enthusiasts) will probably have a low attendance rate. This is just what I think will happen. Therefore, whatever it is that is done "officially" (ie : planned for the WHOLE tuck community, not just the North American Coalition of 'Deviated Preverts' Smile ) will probably have to be done online.

- Getting everyone onto IRC for an online chat session will be hard to organise, and again privacy issues are present.

- I like the blooper's reel idea, though I'm not sure how the format is going to work. Could you give an Example Blooper? Illustration will exclude quite a few people I think, due to time and shyness. There could be a combined Drawing/Fanfic/OtherArt compilation; that should draw more entries. Maybe everyone can try to submit a short story based on placing themselves in the same universe with Tuck/Valerie and meeting hir?

I guess I ramble abit too much.

If I knew Ellen in real life, I'd treat her to either a meal or a drink. Great Work.

I like the idea of fanfics. Since we can't actually know when episode 100 will be out, or if with certainty for that matter, we should start writing now. Smile

Eeek. Writing.....

Unfortunately my fiction is painfully bad (I have evidence of this, just not that I'm likely to let out again) - but I'd like to see what those more competant do Smile

And, yeah, I'd also like to treat Ellen to a meal....unfortunately she lives in the wrong country for that!

Well..I didn't really mean for any of us to meet
in person..I too try to keep my addiction a secret,
(not that I hide under a different name or anything)
I just don't choose to talk about Tuck to outsiders
who wouldn't understand anyway.

Hmmm I agree that trying to all clump together iin IRC
would be a feat worthy of sainthood, it being a minor
miracle given how I'd wager most of us don't understand
IRC anyway. What I mean more or less was that when the
big day comes (if it comes at all, Ellen may decide to
start a new series with the same characters under a
different name after episode #99 for all we know!) we
should all get to gether for a marathon session here
and in the guest book..perhaps with 'The first time I
read Tuck was...' stories?

Errmm...as for the blooper reel..lemme see if I can
whip together an example or two...

Episode #9

***
21:41 4 Jan

This was scaring me more than when he was angry. I pulled
away, instinctively, but froze when I caught him Looking at me
again. He still had one hand on my shoulder, and after a long
time of feeling like a rabbit in front of a snake, he moved
closer to me.

I knew what he was going to do, but I was so paralyzed with
fear that the only thing I could do was close my eyes as he bent
his head down.

When his lips touched mine, it felt like I'd been
electrocuted. Without thinking, I opened my mouth to his, and he
held me tighter as he frantically kissed me. My arms were being
jammed into my chest, so I slid them out, alongside his body,
but he just pulled me closer.

And he was still kissing me. And my body was responding
like it was Debbie.

He was desperate for something, I could tell, because he
just kept moving around, like he was looking for something to
make him whole. Something in me. The perfect kiss. Me, I was
scared to death, and my chest hurt, and I was losing my body,
and there was this _surge_ going on that I'd only ever felt with
Debbie.

"Mmmmmmmyeah," I said as Travis began nibbling on my neck.
He touched my shoulder, then, and caressed it in a way that left
me breathless, which sort of went away when he said, "CUT!!"

---And suddenly the harsh glare of the lights overhead and the
dirty look that Ellen Hayes had begun directing towards me
chased away the haze that was my head at this point and I
remembered who and what I was supposed to be.

"What?" I tried. But I really should have known better..

22:02 4 Jan

We were all seated in the Director's trailer, waiting for
the situatuion to calm itself while Ms. Hayes did her best to
verbally rip me several new assholes and being anything BUT calm
as she paced back and forth. Finally she seemed to have spent
the most of her anger and the room was silent as she continued
to give me The Look.

"Well?" she asked. "Would you like to explain to me and
the rest of the cast why you decided to fool around when you
knew that we were rolling and that we were already several weeks
behind schedule?"

Tucker couldn't help but feel herself begin to blush as she
responded, "I got carried away--it's not my fault that you
decided to cast my fiance as a love intrest...."
=====================================

How's that for a sample blooper? (Although I freely admit that
I drew it out just a little too much and that I stole the basic
concept from a Ranma 1/2 fanfic I read awhile back..)

If it can be used, I'd suggest "Tuck Everlasting" as a possible name for #100- I saw the movie twice, once in the theater, once DVD rental. As for a tuck writeup, I am better at shredding what's there than generating something new- obvious since what I'm 'contributing' here is lifted whole from elsewhere. By the way, IIRC, Heinlein's character Jubal (Harshaw? can't remember, and no references handy) said that writing mostly consisted of stealing someone else's work and filing off the serial numbers. That basic idea (much writing is disguised plagiarism) was developed at more length in his "Number of the Beast", as Zeb Carter deliberately used out of context misquotes in his masters thesis, taken from foreign-language copies of his thesis reviewers' works (three each from most, four from the lead reviewer.

Anyone else with possible names for #100 (presuming of course Ellen hasn't already named it)?

...Err I can't really remember off the top of my hat
either, but I'd always thought that quote was about
editors...or maybe not? I guess I'll just have to
reread Stranger in a Strange Land again (uncut version)
to find out for sure... [grins] Oh the horror!!
Me, having to re re re read one of my favorite authors.

;P
