I can just barely imaging Ellen going this route, since it's a set of events probably rarer than Tuck's condition, and one that occurs more in bad fiction than in real life.

But let's say that Tuck spends the next six years or so unconscious in a hospital, before reviving on, say, February 21, 2004. (That's one way to take care of the period-piece element of the plot.) Am I right in assuming that the hormonal changes he was undergoing would continue, unchecked? If so, he'd awaken not only with seven years of technology to catch up on but with a much more feminized body and mind than he had in '97.

Lots of ways the situation would have changed in the meantime, of course -- I'm sure you guys can fanfic them at least as well as I can. One that catches my interest: the relationship between a 23-year old Valerie, still thinking like a 16-year old, and a six-years older Ricky Parker ought to be interesting.

(As long as I'm writing this, my version: Mike, with his psychic bond, would be the first to know Tuck's awake. He's in grad school on his way to a biotech degree. He and Tuck's father will try to get Tuck/Val up to spec on computer advances, and accelerate his/her education process. Dobson, now a district administrator, may be able to help. (Did he get kicked upstairs to a dead-end job because the attack on Tuck and the subsequent revenge by the Boyz demonstrated that he'd lost control of the school, or did he manage to set things right and get promoted?) Kelly's also around to help acclimate Tuck/Val; though nobody's quite sure where she came back from or what she's doing there, they're all grateful for her help. Brian enlisted after 9/11 and is stuck in Iraq, still ambivalent about all the attention Tuck's getting and that he's not; he'd hoped to do something heroic overseas but has enough to worry about staying alive. Susan's living with someone but after all this time is ready to accept Valerie as a sister and help with her emotional stress, which is fortunate since Tuck's mother still can't handle the situation. The Boyz and the Pack have long since dispersed, though many of them will be back sometime during the summer, willing to help but unable to do much. Travis hasn't really thought about Valerie for years, but tries to renew the relationship out of something of a sense of duty until Valerie calls it off. Tuck/Val still won't have anything to do with Debbie; she and Lisa, now publicly a couple, have MBAs and a very successful service business, having absorbed a couple of competitors. The years and Val's physical changes haven't made any difference in their relationship: Val won't admit that there's anything positive there and Debbie doesn't really want the complication. Kim's a fulltime supervisor for D&E; Mike broke up with her in the aftermath of Tuck's attack, and her relationship with both of them starts off chilly. That's enough for now...)

Certainly an interesting scenario. I've been avoiding giving any of my guesses for now- I would rather see what Ellen has waiting for us. (I've set April 3rd as the date when, if we still have no word from Ellen, I'll assume that we are not likely to see any more. I really hope that isn't it, but that's when I'll take my turn at my guess as to how the story would go.)
The question of what they would do medically to a comatose Tuck is an interesting one, espically since what Tuck wants is currently unclear. They might operate on Tuck based on Tuck's last clearly stated position, that Tuck wants to eventually have the shots and the surgery. That assumes they think Tuck might recover, but is already out for an extended period. (Because, as you point out, changes will continue to happen if something isn't done.)

As to tucks last wishes to take the testerone shots. . the mouth may say one thing but the body and soul say something completely diffrent. Tucker's father can see it and Tuck's mother can see it too but is having a very very hard time with it. Susan knew it all along and Bryan's opinion has yet to be truely expressed. I do not see them ever doing anything while Tuck is in a coma one way or another. But being in a coma will allow doctors to examine the brain and the body when they check for damage and probably bringing even more things to light.
