Since Erin was good enough to follow up on my suggestion to start a new forum for the updated version of the story, I'm reposting and updating my original post on the story here:
So, we get the start of a new story today- or at least an update of a previous story.
There only seems to be one major change from the original version so far- making a fake ID. Not too big yet, but including it now points to it being important later, which would point to bigger changes coming. I wonder why Tuck hasn't made a Valerie ID in the main storyline, for that matter. (The only place I can recall the idea coming up is in the "I Am Not Alone" fanfic.) And where the heck did the last name "Davis" come from? We've seen Val use the last name "Walker" in the main storline, as well as Tucker, but I can't recall Davis ever coming up before.
At least a little new Tuck today! Yay! Very Happy

the name Davis only apears once, and it's not even important. it's just a family that amanda babysits for.
it probably IS just a name they puled out of no where.

as far as the rest of the story, i thought it was fairly good. the formating seemed a little odd. like there should have been more space between sections. and sometimes it was hard to tell who we were following. i could tell when it was basicly an old part and something new that had been added becouse the old parts just seemed to.... flow better. i don't know. anyone else have the same experiance?

i still like the jokes, and they STILL make me laugh... i LOVE the top quark line.

i'm looking forward to the next installment, i hope it doesn't take that long. i think having read the story before makes the wait MORE painfull, notless. we know how things went the first time, we know some things are going to be changed, but we don't know what. when i finished, i just wanted to keep reading the old version, but it's not the same, so i couldn't... i find that very fustraiting. like a thirsty man in the middle of the ocean...

Sadly, I don't have the original version of Tuck Season anymore otherwise I suspect I'd run a comparison of one against the other just to fully catch what's changed...

There's more detail present about when Tuck went about putting his goodies (laptop, etc) away when he first gets to Aunt Jane's.

Beyond that, it's basically a sentence here & there.

Still a good read... and I can't wait until things really get rolling with the first visit to the Chalet. Smile

Ellen will probably be annoyed with me for pointing this out but...

If you REALLY want to get the old version and do a comparison... well, the Wayback Machine (http://www.archive.org) has a copy. I went there a few months ago when I lost mine on a disk mishap. The .zip file is corrupt, but the individual .txt files are good.

Don't call me Shirley. You will surely make me surly.

Oh bless you! I'd lost my copy of Tuck Season months back in a botched OS change and Ellen had by then pulled it for reworking. Now I'm off to try and get it all back again. Smile
