I've been re-reading the series and I noticed something. Tuck seems to have a very strong desire to have children that are biologically his.

I wonder how that will impact the choices he makes about his body? For example, if the mass that looks like an ovary proves out to have viable eggs, will that make a difference? It would mean he could potentially have children through in vitro fertilization with a partner or host mother. It will be very interesting to see if that topic comes up... and if so how and what the reactions are.

The first thing we need to do is wait for Ellen to tell us what the "ovary-looking thing" is. And I don't get the impression that Tuck has any desire to have children, he just gets along with Ricky and Stella.

I haven't noticed Tuck wanting kids. But Tuck does seem to have an instinctive way with them and finds looking after them easy.

"Looking after for limited periods of time" does not equate to "wanting one of one's own." Besides, having to deal with Tuck's own child would put quite a crimp in Tuck's favored activities.

i think i agree with the original poster. it's not that tuck wants children now or later, but there's a bit of an assumption that he'll have children through the usual method. i don't think tuck has ever mentioned adoption in his future. Its another shining example of tucks willful blindness.

*snorts* Brings up an image of a commando, clad in black... with a black baby sling on the front, and a Wee One with charcoal over the skin and a black nylon pacifier strapped on.
Also brings up an image of a Hong Kong Action Theatre movie that I cannot remember, except the end setting is a hospital that houses a criminal armory in the basement... and one baby, getting saved from the flames/impending explosion, returns the favor to the hero by pissing and thereby putting out the fire on the hero's leg.
And "Raising Arizona" - "Never leave a team member behind!"*BOOM*

Maybe I need to lie down.

If I recall correctly Val has a crying jag with Travis over the issue of him (Travis) saying that Val should have children. At that point Val (whether as Val or Tuck... Shocked ) Says that she just found out that she can't have children and breaks down crying.

Now this may be just a body image thing and be triggered by the tests that Tuck just took but one does wonder if it is a deeper issue. Just as one wonders if Tuck/Val not being willing to talk to Travis about the whole in between issue is triggered by former abuse by peers...

At least once Travis has said that Val having been a boy *will not* bother him... although Val/tuck did do a tstl moment over the issue of talking about the tests that she had taken...
