Dan inserted a CD into the minivan stereo. _TRRRRIIIIM! Dum, dum, dum-dum-dum, dum, dum-dum-dum..._
"What's with the 'Mission: Impossible' theme?" George complained.
"Mood music," explained Dan. Like we needed MORE adrenaline.
"You dork!" Mike cut, shutting off the sound. "This is NOT the time!"

"NOW it's the time for some appropriate music," I said.
"True dat," Mike replied. "What have you got, Dan?"
"What about the Indiana Jones theme?"

Don't call me Shirley. You will surely make me surly.

There was a pounding at our door that set off the alarms. When I opened the door Jill was standing there looking devastated. "What's wrong?" I asked.

Jill just collapsed into my arms in a fit of weeping that made me worry more than her pounding on the door had. She knew that we kept the doorbell in top working condition but evidently couldn't think well enough to use it.

Mom and dad had finally gotten Jill to be coherent enough to tell them that one of her brothers had taken her bike for a joy ride. We didn't normally deal with the police but this was a good job for them (if we couldn't find the bike first) so dad had Jill report the bike as stolen and then he asked, "Are you applying for sanctuary here?"
