Ok, I just heard a bit of music that Tuck & co would either love or have them in convulsions. It's even contemporary.

As well all know, Tuck & co seem to like Metallica's "Enter Sandman".

I've been working my way thru my collection of Dr. Demento shows. Many I've never gotten around to listening to before. (and I'm amazed that Tuck & crew aren't fans of it).

Anyway, I was listen to the Feb 23, 1997 show. And there's a cover of "Enter Sandman". ... by Pat Boone. Done as *jazz*.

More than a bit startling when you realize what you are listening to.

And given the date of the show, it *is* something Tuck & co could encounter.

Actually, I think they are. I seem to remember they know the Tom Lehrer repertoire via Dr. Demento.

Well, I did a search of the directory that has all the stories. Only hit for "Lehrer" was the silly quote at the end of Tuck38.

No hits at all for "Demento".

Not directly, no. But there are a few snippets of Lehrer songs (I think "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" in the main saga, and "Masochism Tango" in the old draft of "Tucky Season"), and someone suggested (I think in the forums) that, given the ages of Tuck & Co., they were most likely to have discovered those via Dr. Demento.

It's quite possible that by current Tuck-time the good Doctor may have been off the air in Tuck-area for some years. However, they would certainly have listened to it when it was available, and they probably have hours of tapes. Just the thing to listen to on your way to the camping base site.

Keep in mind, too, that they are fen, and have probably gone to a few cons; they are presumably at least passing familiar with filk in general, and Lehrer songs are common at filksings.

I now have this mental image of Da Rat Boyz getting pissed at Sabrina for something and exacting revenge by serenading her with 'Banned From Argo' and suchlike.
