Okay so after years and years and years of being away from Linux and being corrupted by the evils of the shiney windows OS games I've finally returned and am now sitting on my nice new shiney Ultimate Edition 2.7 installed lappy.

However there are some problems.

Games that I could run on this laptop with no problems at all are either lagging all to hell under Wine or are not running at all and I am hoping to get some help with it.

The primary two culprits are Guild Wars and Dungeons and Dragons Online. What can I say I'm a sucker for free MMO's. Course GW's isn't entirely free, I have sunk just under 100 bucks into buying the game and the various campaigns and the EotN expansion. But meh, it's fun.

Okay Guildwars is my "lagging all to hell" culprit. I checked the wiki entry but it seems that the steps given there are not enough to fix the lag. I get alot of black screen/missing graphics and it lags all to hell and back.

Now I was running GW's with maxed out graphics settings back uner Vista with no problems so I know the computer is powerful enough to do it. So I am guessing that the problem lies in the open source driver that Wine has by default for my graphics chipset. Now I am sure I can hunt down an open source graphic driver however I am not sure how to tell Wine to use it.

Also if you have any other ideas on how to get around this or possible causes I'd be happy to hear it.

Now with DDO, the installer just plain will not run. I tell it to start up with Wine then it just does nothing. *shrugs* DDO's forums where pretty useless in this regards.

Well if anyone gets any ideas gimmie a shout.

Running Debian Etch, Xorg 7.1.something, and gpm; Logitech M-S35 PS/2 mouse.
Can anyone tell me how to make cut&paste work over the virtual terminals?
Or, slightly better, in between X and the virtual terminals (not xterm)?
